The Kingdom is the next installment in the Fargo Adventure series if you have any interest in Clive Cussler books in chronological order. While this book has some weak points, it's still a very entertaining story. Please ignore all crass and vicious, literary critiques from people who just can't say anything nice and pick up this novel for pure fun and quest. So let us push on into the book's basics.
Worrying news pushes Sam and Remi Fargo into the quest for a missing person. And not just any missing person, this person actually is their friend and collegue. So switching gears from treasure hunting to missing person search takes the Fargos from the U. S. to Nepal. And what they find leads not only to their pal, but to an antiquities black market dealing in fossils together with the inclusion of a corrupt Chinese army general. Top all this intrigue off with evil Texas billionaire pulling all of the, and you have the makings of a wonderful, fast paced book to hold your attention this weekend!
So what's the true motive of the Texan? It is the search for one artifact that holds ancient poser. Held in high regard, this artifact was guarded by soldiers who swore their lives to keep it safe and out of the hands of thieves and invading armies. To claim that finding this treasure turns out to be a daunting task is an understatement, but Sam and Remi prove they're the task.
Filled with intrigue, and lots of suspense...The Kingdom is a great book to read when you simply want to escape from it all. There are plenty of plot twists, not possible eventualities, and totally unimaginable strokes of good luck thrown into this story. However let's not forget this is a made up story...and that explains why it is so much fun.
We should never read books and expect everything to be perfect with timelines, story development, and pacing...we read fiction novels to be entertained and give us a temporary escape from our busy days of humdrum life. The Kingdom from expert writer Clive Cussler has proven to be exactly that, an exciting and fun to read break from the day by day we all live with.
