The Guinness World Records is a book that is published yearly containing a collection of records set around the world. Whether it is a person, a place, a thing, or an event. The Guinness World Records has them all. These books show the world and its extreme and bizarre achievements.

This yearly account of historic moments from around the globe was first rendered in Great Britain. It was brought to life by many different contributors of many different professions such as journalists and athletes. While The Guinness Book of World Records gained its popularity in Great Britain, the book originated at the Guiness brewery.

The idea for the Guinness Book was to settle different bar bets among the locals. After a while, the owners of Guinness realized they were sitting on a golden egg and took seized the opportunity to turn this solution of settling bets into a masterpiece.

The idea originated in Ireland in the spring of 1951 when Sir Hugh Beaver was in an altercation about Europe's fastest bird while at a shooting party.

While Sir Beaver was in his house that evening, He came to the conclusion that reference books were did not contain the information necessary to confirm either side of the dispute.

Then was when he concluded that making this book could become a very popular trend and immediately went to work. You should very well know what happened after this.

Since this world famous book was produced in 1955, Guinness has sold millions of copies world wide and has continued to do so over the years. Not only is this book about world record holders, but it holds a record of its own as the all time best copyrighted series.

Although it is not a record, the Guiness Book of World Records is one of the most stolen books in US public libraries.
