With blogging there comes a point when you just want to get straight to the point about how to go about setting one up correctly without all the hype. It's hard to find good help when everyone says to do it this or that way and you often wonder where to turn to and why. Well, simply put, there actually are some great resources out there you can find that will walk you through exactly how to go about doing just this and that's what I plan to do right here.
1. Market
2. This is actually one of the most important steps you can take but is often not taken into consideration due to the fact that it's boring and you just want to get straight to building your web site or blog. The market will actually help you decide how to go about doing different things because you will have a better idea where you're at and where you're going. Keep this in mind before pitching this idea.
3. Domain
4. Choosing a domain is important because it's the basis of your blog and will inform readers what you're all about. Now you may not always be able to get a domain that directly reflects this information but choosing something brandable is also a good idea.
5. Platform
6. You need a place to host your blog and I recommend WordPress. The reason is because it's easy to use and free and is a powerful platform when optimized correctly using just basic seo. There are others that may even do a better job here or there but ultimately, WordPress is where I recommend if you're just starting out.
7. Core Content
8. Yes there is such a thing as "core" content. You want content that not only goes live on your blog but also the kind that stays behind the scenes for when your'e not really in the mood to write. Just make sure all you write is high quality and published regularly with optimization in mind and you should be ok.
9. Start Your List
10. Not every blog needs a list but having one is more power in your hands and it shows, if you know how to use one effectively. If you want to make more money, a list helps. If you want to connect with your readers on a deeper and further level for long-term success, a list is the way to go. While it may not be for every blog, as mentioned above, it probably won't hurt.
11. Find Like Minded People
12. If you're surrounding yourself with other people who are not of the same mind-set as you are you're probably not going to be benefiting too well. You need to make sure you're around others who think and feel the same about things as you do. This is important for long-term success in blogging especially.
13. Guest Post Power
14. The power of writing articles for other blogs is fabulous. There's not a better way to really get out there fast if you ask me. You basically need to find other blogs similar to your own that are good authority sites but not too big and get to know them and their audience. When you submit a post to that blog you're actually giving your blog and yourself a huge boost. This is power so use it wisely.
15. Comments And Staying In Touch
16. Leave comments when you can and keep in touch with people. This is common sense but is very time consuming as well. It's important and I recommend keeping to a certain schedule if you can. This way you're getting everything done and not over doing it because commenting everywhere can take a very long time that could be done in other ways such as mentioned above, guest posting.
17. Community Advice
18. People who are doing what you do have their own opinions and have no problem sharing them for the most part. Listen to what they have to say because it could be very effective for you. If someone says you need to do this or that, take it into good consideration especially if they're an authority in that niche.
19. Giveaway Great Value
20. Abobe all, just give away great value. And keep doing it. You absolutely need to give your best away but let me explain further what I mean. Give your best away but don't give it all away... Just enough to get people interested enough to return to your blog. Just make sure it's great advice and that you're continually providing it for free.
