Clive Cussler has pulled off one of the finest book series ever. The Oregon Files is one of the most imaginative and extraordinary story lines and I am excited to assert that I have read each one of the stories. The Jungle is the most recent of the Cussler books that I have read and for a 400 page book, I read it utterly in only 2 days.
With this being the 8th book in the Oregon Files series, I must say The Jungle is far and above the rest. I do not mean to belittle the other books, far from it. This one just grabbed my attention and wouldn't let go. It was a total thrill ride from start to finish.
So what do we actually get with this book?
5 quick things spring to mind.
We get the Clive Cussler strategy for writing a great and exciting tale, even if it is a bit improbable.
We have the person who is lost or in trouble and must be found. (In fact this story has two of those.)
We've got the Oregon itself. In all sincerity this sounds like a very cool ship and what a great setting for getting all around the planet.
We have got the 'bad guy and his evil henchman ' who are seeking to bring down the U. S..
And finally, we have the crew of the Oregon headed up by Juan Cabrillo. Every single one of the crew is top notch and a big asset. And with Juan Cabrillo as the captain and president of the company/ship, we have to expect that he's just as capable, brave, and 'get dirty and complete the task ' as the other Clive Cussler characters of Dirk Pitt, Kurt Austin, and Isaac Bell.
So let me put it to you this way. If you're into reading some of the most inspiring and entertaining books around, you have to get this book! You won't be disgruntled.
