Holidays are the best time to try and do all those activities you would not normally have the chance to do. One of these activities may be reading. Not all of us are reading fans, in fact some people can't take to it at all, but for those who can, finding those great holiday reads are of utmost importance. It is a chance to lose our minds within a book and soak up the sun.
We all have reading material preference. What one person may deem as a great read, another may not. What is important however is that it provides the escapism we all crave on holiday. Hopefully the 3 books I am about to recommend will offer something for all reading tastes.
For the readers amongst us that enjoy reading about others lives then Russell Brands 'Booky Wook' would be a good place to start. It's humour and candour makes it an easy read yet retaining an underlying seriousness to his stories. His honesty and brashness about drugs, sex and scandals leave you, at times, in shock. All in all it is a book to amuse and shock us.
The girl with the dragon tattoo by Stieg Larsson is an intricate double detective story that unveils the story of oddly matched duo Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander. They go on the search to solve a 30-year-old mystery. The reviews for this book have described it as a challenging, intellectual crime thriller, not lacking in its disturbing and ugly scenes.
Finally, one for the ladies perhaps is 'The divine secrets of the Ya-Ya sisterhood' by Rebecca Wells. This is definitely the one if you want that typical holiday easy-read. Full of romance, tragedy, life questions and challenges it follows the story of a young woman about to get married. In her questioning of happiness and what she really wants from life, her divorced Mother's friends, the Ya-ya's, troupe together to change her views on life.
So hopefully there are three great books to start you off with on your all-inclusive sun-soaked holiday that will suit any taste.
