Forget The Competition - Family Virtues Book Review

By Layla Lewis

The rest of the book continues in this vein. She spares no words in demeaning or trashing everything from American Idol to our President. I have to admit that I have only made it through 230 out of the 269 pages in Sarah Palin's book, America by Heart. I also have not read her previous book; it seemed to have disappeared by the time I'd heard about it.

If you're an expert at something you can explain it simply, and Sarah really shows her common sense genius in this book. She can take a complex issue (communism) and make it as simple as a couple paragraphs so anyone can understand it.

These young people feel entitled to jobs and salaries they haven't earned. And now, her daughter has made many more thousands of dollars on Dancing with the Stars. Why buy the book when you can just listen to the same old whine-fest by turning on the TV to Fox? To be fair, I've only read the first chapters but that's about all I could handle. This book didn't seem as personal as her first book, in my opinion. This book gives Sarah's views on what shapes her opinions and cites a number of various sources. The issue with people born with a silver spoon in their mouth is that they think they know what's best for people like us, but they don't. I don't make a lot of money and I am not a liberal elite, so they can't speak for me even though they try. Some criticize this book it because it is not sufficiently fresh, inspiring and original. To them I say, please read Kipling's poem, The God of the Copybook Headings. Most Americans agree with Ms Palin on many issues such as respecting the flag, the Constitution, freedom, wholesome family values, faith, work ethic, etc.

You can tell she wrote ever word if you have gotten to know Palin. It is a must read if you want to know who she is.

Read about the Mojava Cross which has become "the cross in the box." Sarah quotes the prayer of Franklin Roosevelt that according to some was the largest mass prayer of all times. This book is an ocean. Quite frankly, the book is good and I would suggest that you read it and make up your own mind about it rather than to form an opinion based on the obvious bias you'll find here by some reviewers. It doesn't present any solutions except in platitudes we've heard over and over like "take our country back."

For too long we have been sold the snake oil of big government by the elites of both parties without ever really being honest about it. What Sarah does is give voice to the very American values and beliefs that most hold dear.
