Kindle 3 For Media Readers

By Drew Patter

As the Kindle was first released in 2007 by Amazon, each new model that came after the initial release has considerably improved, not only with the appearance but with newer, more advanced features as well. When the Kindle 2 was introduced two years after the release of the first Kindle, people are already itching to get the Kindle best price available in the market. In 2010, Amazon made available the third generation Kindle to the public. In spite the fact that it has only been a year since the Kindle 2 was first released, there are several notable differences between the new Kindle and its predecessor.

Looking at the dimensions of new Kindle and comparing it with the previous model, there are certain differences that are quite apparent. For instance, the new Kindle has become a little bit smaller, measuring at only 7.5 x 4.8 inches, where the Kindle 2 measures at 8 x 5.3 inches. Between the two models, the third generation Kindle actually appears more like a paperback book than the Kindle 2.

When it comes to the thickness of both devices, the Kindle 3 is a bit slimmer at only 0.335 inches thick, compared to the Kindle 2's 0.36 inches. Weight-wise, the new Kindle is a few ounces lighter, weighting in at 8.5 ounces; whereas the previous model weighs in at around 10.2 ounces. However, although the Kindle 2 is quite larger than the most recent model, they both have exactly the same screen display sizes, which measures at 6 inches.

Another major disparity between the two models is the screen contrast. Although the Kindle 2 already has an impressive screen contrast, with its high resolution screen display, the E Ink or electronic Ink technology is actually what makes the device easy to read even under the glaring sun. With the third generation Kindle, however, Amazon.com claims that the screen contrast has improved by fifty percent more than the previous Kindle. This is due to the more advanced "E Ink Pearl Technology" that is featured in the device, which provides clearer texts and sharper images.

When you talk about the storage capacity, the third generation Kindle is clearly the winner. With its four gigabyte internal memory, the new Kindle essentially doubles the capacity of the previous model. This new model of the Kindle can store up to 3,500 books, a huge improvement compared to only 1,500 books that the Kindle 2 can store. No wonder people are trying to look for a Kindle best price they can find on this new model. Even the Kindle 2 owners are getting in on the action.

Lastly, there are experimental features that can be found with the Kindle 2 that are available in the Kindle 3 as well, like the ability to play MP3 music, a simple built-in web browser, a conversion tool for PDF documents, and the text-to-speech feature. The difference of course is that the PDF document conversion is more improved and the Web browser is now Web-kit based, which is faster than the older version. With all of these features incorporated in one solid device, the competitors better start thinking of new concepts to top Amazon's new Kindle.
