Shiva Trilogy - Book Review

The Shiva Trilogy, written by the Indian author Amish, is a three part novel that has gone on to become a best-seller in India. The Immortals of Meluha was the first part of the trilogy and was published in August of 2010.

The second book in the series, The Secret of the Nagas, is due to be released by mid August of 2011 and has already created a lot of buzz amongst book enthusiasts. The third book is titled The Oath of the Vayuputras and currently, the author is working on the same and this book is expected to be released sometime in 2012.

This tale of epic adventure takes place in the ancient world of Meluha, also known as the Indus Valley of old. It is here that we are introduced to Shiva, a tribal warrior chief who learns that destiny has a bigger role for him during his travels to Meluha. We are also introduced to the two clans of Suryavanshis and Chandravanshis who are at loggerheads with each other.

The first part in the Shiva Trilogy is The Immortals of Meluha which introduced us to all the characters in this amazing series. In The Immortals of Meluha, Shiva discovers his true identity and learns that he is the one chosen by the Gods to bring peace in the Meluhan land by defeating all that is evil.

It is also in this book that our hero falls in love with the Suryavanshi princess Sati and comes face to face with the mysterious warrior tribe of the Nagas who have taken sides with the evil Chandravanshis.

The Immortals of Meluha was published in 2010 and went on to become a huge rage amongst book lovers for its unique plot and the expert blending of history with mythology. What also added to the success of the book was the fact that it was marketed very smartly which led to a great buzz around the book. The cover of the book was really catchy and the author also created a small but amazing trailer film which became a viral hit online.

The second book in the series is The Secret of the Nagas and the plot of this one will take off where the Immortals of Meluha ended. Due to release in August 2011, this book is expected to become a huge hit from day one itself. Currently the book is not available at retail stores but can be ordered through some of the online retailers in India like Flipkart.
